The DLD email permit: what to include and what to expect

The DLD import permit email goes to qsap_bkk_import@dld.go.th. Send it at least 30-60 days before your planned arrival date. Include: your name and contact details in Thailand, your pet’s species and breed, the microchip number, vaccination records (including all core vaccines and titre test result), your planned arrival date, and your flight details if known.

The DLD responds with a permit number by email. This permit number must appear on your USDA-APHIS health certificate. Without it, DLD staff at the airport cannot process the import smoothly.

If you need to change your travel date, email the DLD again to amend the permit. Keep the full email chain as part of your documentation set.

The USDA-APHIS health certificate must be the original document with the physical USDA stamp and signature. Electronic copies and photocopies are not accepted by the DLD. Carry the original with you when collecting your pet from quarantine.

Common questions about this route

Email qsap_bkk_import@dld.go.th at least 30-60 days before your planned arrival. Include your pet’s microchip number, species, breed, vaccination records, titre test result, and your planned arrival date and airport. The DLD will issue a permit number by return email.
No. All dogs and cats arriving in Thailand from international origins must complete the mandatory 30-day quarantine at the DLD facility. There is no waiver, and the period cannot be shortened.
In addition to rabies, dogs need current vaccinations for distemper, canine hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza, and leptospirosis. All of these must be recorded on the USDA-APHIS health certificate. If your dog’s core vaccines are not current, update them before applying for the health certificate.
Yes. The 30-day DLD quarantine applies to cats as well as dogs. Cats also need the microchip, rabies vaccination, titre test, and core vaccines (panleukopenia, calicivirus, rhinotracheitis). The same DLD email permit process applies.
No. American Staffordshire Terriers are on Thailand’s prohibited breed list, along with Pit Bull Terriers and Tosa Inus. These breeds cannot enter Thailand regardless of documentation. If you are unsure whether your dog’s breed or breed mix is affected, contact the DLD directly before starting the process.
