Getting the USDA APHIS endorsement right
The USDA APHIS endorsement is the step that most often catches US pet owners off guard. Your regular vet can complete the health certificate if they are USDA-accredited, but the document then has to go to your USDA APHIS State Veterinarian’s office for an official endorsement stamp. That endorsement process takes three to five business days at most offices, sometimes longer during busy periods.
The certificate also has a validity window. Armenia requires the health certificate to be issued within a specific number of days before your pet arrives in Yerevan. Work backwards from your travel date: when does your pet need to arrive, when does the certificate need to be endorsed, and when does your vet appointment need to happen? Getting this sequence wrong is the most common cause of problems on this route.

Armenia does not impose routine quarantine on pets arriving from the United States, which is a recognised rabies-controlled country. One practical note: Yerevan is a medium-sized international airport. Cargo handling facilities are adequate but not as large as Istanbul or Frankfurt. If your pet is travelling as live animal cargo, confirm the handling process with your cargo agent at EVN before travel to avoid any surprises on arrival.
