15-digit microchip meeting ISO Standard 11784 or Annex A to ISO Standard 11785, scannable on arrival.

Rabies vaccination

Current rabies vaccination required, given between 30 days and 12 months before entering Guyana. Documentation can be a rabies certificate, a government vaccination booklet, or a GB Pet Health Certificate showing the same detail.

Rabies titre test

Not required. The United Kingdom is one of the countries the Guyana Livestock Development Authority (GLDA) treats as rabies-free for import purposes, alongside Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica and a handful of small Caribbean states. That classification is confirmed case by case when the import permit application is reviewed.

Quarantine

No quarantine for a pet arriving from a country on GLDA's rabies-free list, which currently includes the UK. Quarantine of up to 90 days applies only to pets arriving from countries GLDA classes as high-rabies-risk.

Standard veterinary health certificate from a UK-registered vet, describing the pet, its microchip number, vaccination history and current health, dated close to the travel date. Guyana's Ministry of Agriculture asks for a certificate 'issued by a licensed veterinarian in the country of origin,' which an ordinary UK vet certificate satisfies without any government endorsement.

Guyana doesn't recognise a GB Pet Health Certificate as automatically sufficient on its own; make sure the certificate or an accompanying vet letter states the vaccination date clearly, since GLDA checks the 30-day minimum from that date.
