Critical points
No titre test and no quarantine makes this route much simpler than Singapore to Australia or Singapore to the UK.
Brachycephalic breeds may face restrictions on Air Canada and other carriers. Confirm your breed is accepted before booking.
AVS export endorsement is required even for outbound pets. Start this process at least 2-3 weeks before travel.

Airline comparison: Singapore to Canada
| Airline | Route | Pet policy | Transfers | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Singapore Airlines | SIN-YVR (direct), SIN-YYZ (via) | Cargo only | 0-1 | Best option. Direct YVR service is the standout |
| Air Canada | SIN via connections | Cargo only | 1+ | Via Tokyo, Hong Kong, or other hub. Brachycephalic restricted |

| Japan Airlines | SIN-NRT-YVR | Cargo only | 1 | Via Tokyo Narita. Alternative option |
Singapore Airlines is the clear first choice for Vancouver. Changi’s live animal facility is one of the best in Asia and the direct SIN-YVR service minimises transit handling.
What Canada requires: the CFIA process
Canada’s federal pet import process is run by CFIA. For personal pets (1-2 animals, not for sale or breeding), the requirements are manageable.
Dogs aged 3 months and older must be vaccinated against rabies. The health certificate from an AVS-authorised vet must be endorsed by AVS and include the pet’s microchip number, vaccination records, and a declaration of good health.
At the Canadian port of entry (Vancouver or Toronto for most SIN routes), CBSA inspects documentation. For compliant pets, the inspection is brief and your pet is released to you the same day.
