Critical points

90-day titre test wait plus 10-day quarantine on arrival: this route has a minimum 5-6 month preparation timeline. Start immediately when you know your move date.

Only Melbourne (Mickleham) accepts international pet arrivals for quarantine. All pets must fly into Melbourne for the quarantine period, even if your final destination is Sydney, Brisbane, or Perth.

Singapore is a Group 3 country, not Group 2. The titre test is mandatory; it cannot be waived.

Singapore sits in the same Group 3 as Hong Kong. New Zealand is the notable outlier: Group 1 means no titre test and no quarantine. All other major expat origins (UK, Singapore, HK, US) involve both.

Singapore Airlines is the strongest choice. Changi’s live animal cargo facility is purpose-built, and SQ’s SIN-Australia services are direct on most routes. Qantas is a solid alternative if SQ is unavailable on your dates.

Group 3 status: what it means and why quarantine is mandatory

DAFF divides the world into 6 groups based on disease risk. Group 1 (NZ, UK, Ireland and a few others) have the lowest requirements. Singapore is Group 3, meaning: titre test required, 90-day wait from blood draw before entry, and 10 days mandatory quarantine at Mickleham on arrival.

The 90-day clock starts on the date of the blood draw, not the date results come back. Results from a DAFF-approved lab typically take 2-4 weeks. So the full sequence is: vaccination, wait 30 days, blood draw, wait for results (2-4 weeks), wait for 90-day clock from blood draw date, then travel. That adds up to roughly 5-6 months before your first eligible travel date.

Quarantine at Mickleham is mandatory regardless of how compliant your documentation is. All pets from Group 3 countries do 10 days there. Melbourne is the only approved quarantine entry point for international pets. If your Australian destination is Sydney, Brisbane, or Perth, your pet must fly into Melbourne first, complete quarantine, and then travel domestically to join you.
