Costs

What this route typically costs

FAVN titre test: lab fee USD 150-300 plus vet consultation and sample shipping
Cargo PTY to AMS, MAD, or FRA: EUR 700-1,500 depending on size
Second-leg cargo to Prague (PRG): EUR 150-400

DINASA endorsement and documentation
SVS border inspection fee on arrival at PRG

Critical points to read before you book

The 90-day waiting period after the blood draw is absolute. It begins on the date of the blood draw, not when the result is received. Departure for the Czech Republic before the 90 days have elapsed will result in the animal being refused entry or quarantined.

The blood draw must be at least 30 days after the rabies vaccination. Drawing earlier produces an invalid result for EU purposes, requiring revaccination and a full restart.

The health certificate must reference the titre test date, result, laboratory name, and confirmation that the 90-day wait is complete. SVS inspectors check all of these fields.

What Czech Republic requires

Bringing a pet into Czech Republic involves a fair amount of documentation. Keep everything organised and check each item against the current requirements before you book.

Avoiding the common mistakes

If this is your first international move, consider an IPATA-registered pet transport agent. They handle the documents, airline booking and crate sizing, and can troubleshoot problems.

Get your pet used to the travel crate weeks in advance. A calm, crate-familiar animal travels far better than one meeting the crate for the first time at the airport.

Confirm live animal acceptance on every flight segment before booking. Not all aircraft or connections take pets, and cargo terms can differ leg to leg.

Keep every original document together and take copies. Border officials want originals, and a missing signature or date can hold up clearance.

FAQ

Common questions about Panama to Czech Republic pet transport

It depends. If a FAVN blood draw was taken at least 30 days after that vaccination and the result was 0.5 IU/ml or above, the 90-day wait is counted from that blood draw date. If the 90 days have already elapsed and the titre test result is still valid, your dog may be ready to travel sooner than 20 weeks from now. Bring all vaccination and titre test records to a consultation with PetTransportGlobal so we can assess where you are in the process.
Yes. The Czech Republic SVS accepts both FAVN and ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) tests, as long as they are performed by an EU-approved laboratory and the result is 0.5 IU/ml or above. The 30-day pre-draw and 90-day post-draw waiting periods apply equally to both test types. Confirm with your chosen laboratory which format they use and whether it is accepted under Commission Decision 2000/258/EC.
A valid titre test result of 0.5 IU/ml or above, with the 90-day wait elapsed, allows entry to the Czech Republic (and any EU country) for the lifetime of the rabies vaccination. The titre test does not need to be repeated unless the rabies vaccination expires and needs to be renewed. If the vaccination lapses and has to be re-administered, a new blood draw and a new 90-day wait are required before the next EU entry.
