Macau isn't named on either of AVS's Schedule I or Schedule II lists, unlike its neighbour Hong Kong SAR, which sits on Schedule II. That gap means a Macau-origin pet gets the strictest Schedule III treatment: titre test, 90-day pre-export wait, and 30 days of quarantine on arrival, a noticeably harder path than the short ferry ride to Hong Kong would suggest.

The titre test blood draw window here runs the opposite way from most routes on this site: at least 90 days before export, not 30 days after vaccination. Get this date wrong and the whole schedule slips.

Air Macau flies the only true nonstop passenger service between the two cities but does not carry pets at all. Every pet on this route makes the Hong Kong transfer regardless.

Microchip before you vaccinate. The microchip must be in place before the rabies shot for the vaccination to count, and getting this order wrong is the most common and costly mistake.

Use an official, government-authorised vet for the health certificate, not just your usual clinic. Many destinations only accept certificates signed by an approved vet.
