Indonesia to India vs Indonesia to Malaysia: which takes longer to prepare?
Both are viable destinations for owners relocating from Indonesia, but the preparation timelines differ significantly.
India requires an AQCS NOC at least 15 days before arrival and a 15-day facility quarantine. There is no titre test. Preparation from Indonesia takes 6-10 weeks once vaccinations are current.
Malaysia requires the RNATT titre test, which must be done at least 3 months before entry and at least 30 days after the rabies vaccination. Malaysia also requires a licensed agent for the DVS permit application and a minimum 7-day quarantine. Preparation takes 16-20 weeks.
India’s process is considerably shorter. No titre test means you are not locked into a 3-month wait. The 15-day quarantine is longer than Malaysia’s minimum of 7 days, but the overall preparation timeline is much shorter.
Which India entry airport works best from Jakarta?
AQCS has quarantine stations at five airports: Delhi Indira Gandhi (DEL), Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji (BOM), Chennai (MAA), Kolkata Netaji Subhas (CCU), and Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi (HYD).
Your NOC application must go to the AQCS station at your specific arrival airport. From Jakarta, the most direct cargo connections run to Mumbai and Delhi. Both have well-established AQCS facilities and handle international pet arrivals regularly.
A local agent in India can advise on current AQCS quarantine capacity at your preferred entry city. For most Indonesia-to-India moves, Mumbai and Delhi are the most practical options. Chennai is workable if it suits your onward plans within India.
