What this route typically costs
Critical points
The 90-day waiting period runs from the titre test blood draw date, not the date the result arrives. This is the most common cause of pets being refused at the Norwegian border.
The tapeworm treatment window is 24-120 hours before ARRIVAL in Norway, not before departure. A flight from Delhi to Oslo involves at least one hub connection and takes 12 hours or more; account for total transit time when scheduling the vet appointment.
Pit bull type dogs are banned in Norway regardless of documentation. Check breed status before booking. AQCS documentation must be submitted at least 7 days before embarkation.
Approved carriers for this route
Not all airlines accept live animals. We book only with carriers that handle live animal cargo correctly.
What does a pet from India need to enter Norway?
Norway is an EEA member and applies EU pet import rules under EU Implementing Regulation 2026/636. India is not on the EU approved list, so the full unlisted-country process applies.
The sequence is: ISO 11784/11785 microchip first (before any rabies vaccination), then rabies vaccination (minimum 21 days before blood draw), then FAVN titre test at an EU-approved laboratory (blood drawn at least 21 days after vaccination, minimum result 0.5 IU/ml), then the 90-day waiting period counted from the blood draw date. After the wait, AQCS endorses an EU Animal Health Certificate (AHC, Annex IV for unlisted countries). AQCS documentation must be submitted at least seven days before embarkation, and the certificate must be endorsed within 10 days of arrival in Norway.
Norway also requires Echinococcus multilocularis tapeworm treatment for all dogs. A vet must administer a praziquantel-based product between 24 and 120 hours before the dog arrives in Norway. The treatment time, product, and dose must appear on the AQCS-endorsed health certificate. Cats do not require tapeworm treatment. Pit bull type dogs are banned in Norway under the Norwegian Dog Act; confirm breed status before booking.
Which airlines carry pets from India to Norway?
No direct cargo service operates from India to Oslo Gardermoen (OSL). All routings involve a European hub. Lufthansa Cargo flies from Delhi (DEL) to Frankfurt (FRA), with SAS or Lufthansa connections to Oslo. KLM Cargo covers DEL to Amsterdam (AMS) with AMS-OSL connections. Air India Cargo connects from Delhi and other Indian airports to European hubs. Finnair flies DEL to Helsinki (HEL) direct, with a short HEL-OSL hop onward.
Confirm live animal cargo acceptance on both the long-haul and short-haul legs at the time of booking.
How long does the India to Norway process take, and what does it cost?
Allow five to six months from start to travel day. The 90-day wait from the titre test blood draw is the fixed constraint. Add the 21-day gap between vaccination and blood draw, and the seven-day AQCS lead time. Do not book flights until you have a confirmed blood draw date and can calculate the exact earliest permitted entry date.
Costs typically run from EUR 1,450 to EUR 3,600. The FAVN titre test costs EUR 200 to EUR 400. AQCS documentation adds INR 5,000 to INR 15,000 (roughly EUR 55 to EUR 165). Cargo from DEL to OSL via a European hub costs EUR 950 to EUR 2,600. Norwegian border inspection runs EUR 100 to EUR 250. An IPATA agent adds EUR 350 to EUR 750.
