How We Source Our Route Data | Pet Transport Global
How We Source Our Route Data
PetTransportGlobal covers more than 5,000 directional pet transport routes across 75 countries. Every route page, country guide, and airline policy on this site is built from named, official sources, not third-party summaries or guesswork. This page explains exactly how we research, verify, and update that information.
Regulations verified: May 2026. Requirements change. Always confirm current rules with the relevant authority before you travel.
Primary sources we use
Every import requirement, quarantine rule, and titre test timeline on this site comes directly from government or intergovernmental authorities. Our primary sources are:
- UK APHA / DEFRA: UK pet travel and import rules: gov.uk/bring-pet-to-great-britain
- USDA APHIS: US pet import requirements: aphis.usda.gov/pet-travel
- Australian DAFF: Australian biosecurity and import rules: agriculture.gov.au
- EU TRACES / EU Reg 576/2013: EU pet movement rules: ec.europa.eu/food/animals/pet-movement
- Japan AQS: Animal Quarantine Service: maff.go.jp/aqs
- Singapore AVS: Animal and Veterinary Service: nparks.gov.sg
- New Zealand MPI: Ministry for Primary Industries: mpi.govt.nz
- IATA Live Animals Regulations: Crate standards, species rules, and airline cargo policies
- Named airline policy pages for each carrier covered on the site
For countries not covered by the above, we use the relevant national veterinary authority or ministry of agriculture.
How we verify information
Each route page and country guide is researched directly against the primary source listed above. We do not rely on pet-travel aggregator sites, travel agency summaries, or undated forum posts.
Where official sources are unclear or contradictory, we flag this on the relevant page and recommend owners contact the authority directly.
All regulatory data carries a “Regulations verified” date stamp on the page itself. This reflects the date the content was last checked against the primary source, not the date of publication.
Update cadence
Regulations change, sometimes without much notice. Our standard practice:
- High-traffic routes (UK-Australia, UAE-UK, USA-UK, etc.) are checked at least every three months.
- All other routes and country guides are reviewed on a rolling basis, with a full audit at least once a year.
- Airline policies are checked every quarter, or when a known policy change is announced.
If you spot an error or an out-of-date regulation, please contact us with a link to the updated official source. We will verify and correct it promptly.
What this site is: and is not
PetTransportGlobal is a guidance and lead-generation resource. It is not a licensed veterinary authority, government body, or legal advisor.
The information here is intended to help pet owners understand what the process involves and what documents they are likely to need. It is not a substitute for checking the current rules directly with the relevant authority close to your travel date.
All content is authored by Gareth, Founder, PetTransportGlobal, with regulations cross-checked against the official sources listed above.
