What this route typically costs
Critical points
Germany is Category C for AVS. The titre test and 6-month wait are mandatory.
30 days of quarantine on arrival is mandatory and paid by the owner. Budget for this carefully.
AVS import permit must be obtained before travel. Late applications cause refusal at Changi.
Always verify current AVS category for Germany and requirements at nparks.gov.sg/avs before starting.
Following your pet's journey through the Germany-Singapore process
Picture it this way: you’re sitting in your Frankfurt apartment, and you’ve just decided you’re relocating to Singapore in nine months. Your Labrador is asleep on the sofa.
Step one: get the microchip confirmed, it needs to be in before the rabies vaccination counts. Step two: the vaccination itself, followed by at least 30 days before the titre test blood draw. Step three: the FAVN titre test at an AVS-approved laboratory. Then the 6-month clock starts.
While the clock ticks, you’re doing the administrative work: AVS import permit via their e-service portal, pre-booking a slot at Singapore’s quarantine station (SQS). These take time and limited spaces fill. Don’t leave them until month five of the six-month wait.
The health certificate from your German vet needs endorsement from the German competent veterinary authority. This isn’t your regular vet’s stamp, it’s an official authority endorsement, and it needs to be done within 10 days of travel. Book the appointment with that timing in mind.
Then the flight: Frankfurt to Singapore Changi. Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines both operate this route directly. Both are reliable for pet cargo on this corridor. Your Labrador lands at Changi and goes straight to the quarantine station. You visit daily if you want. After 30 days, he’s home.
Quarantine at Singapore: what to expect
Singapore’s Animal Quarantine Station (SQS) is professionally run by AVS. Animals are housed individually, exercised, and checked by veterinary staff throughout the quarantine period. It’s not comfortable for them the way home is, but it is humane and well-managed.
The owner pays for the 30 days. Fees vary depending on the size of the animal and the facility. Your pet transport agent can give current cost estimates. Budget it as part of the overall move cost, not an afterthought.
Pre-booking is not optional. If you don’t have a confirmed quarantine slot, AVS will not allow entry. Your agent or the SQS directly handles the reservation.
