GLDA's published list of rabies-free-recognised countries doesn't include Canada. That's a genuine gap, not an oversight on this page: it means a Canadian-origin pet can be treated the same way as an unlisted-country pet, facing a possible titre test and a quarantine assessment of up to 90 days, decided when the import permit is reviewed.
Don't assume Canada's own low domestic dog rabies risk carries over to GLDA's classification. GLDA's list reflects its own criteria for its own imports, and Canada simply isn't on the published exemption list at the time of writing.
Confirm Canada's treatment directly with GLDA before booking a flight or assuming a fixed timeline. This is the one part of this route this site cannot resolve from published guidance alone, and it's the single biggest variable in how long the move actually takes.

Book the titre test laboratory well ahead. Approved labs have limited slots and the sample takes time to process, so this is not something to leave to the final weeks.
Microchip before you vaccinate. The microchip must be in place before the rabies shot for the vaccination to count, and getting this order wrong is the most common and costly mistake.
Use an official, government-authorised vet for the health certificate, not just your usual clinic. Many destinations only accept certificates signed by an approved vet.
