Rabies vaccination
Given no less than 60 days and no more than 1 year before departure, per CFIA's Brunei-specific export guidance. Puppies and kittens under 3 months are exempt from the vaccination requirement but not from the rest of the process.
Rabies titre test
A rabies neutralising antibody titre test (FAVN or equivalent) is mandatory, drawn at least 30 days after vaccination at an approved laboratory. A result of 0.5 IU/mL or higher passes, and it stays valid for 1 year from the sample date.
Quarantine
Canada is not on Brunei's short list of rabies-free 'scheduled' countries (Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Sabah, Sarawak, Singapore and the UK), so quarantine applies regardless of paperwork. With a passing titre test and valid rabies certificate, the minimum is 14 days in a government facility, balance served at home. Without a titre test, government sources on this point cite 30 days minimum. Confirm the current figure directly with Brunei's Department of Agriculture and Agrifood before booking flights, as quarantine terms are set at the department's discretion.
Import permit
