Critical points
The 3-month titre test gap is a firm DVS requirement. Count from the blood draw date, not the result date. Allow extra time for laboratory processing.
Only licensed Malaysian import agents can submit the DVS permit application. Factor in agent fees as part of your budget.

Why the timeline is longer than most other Asian destinations
Malaysia’s 3-month titre test gap makes the Brazil-to-Malaysia move longer to prepare than destinations such as Thailand or India. Thailand has no titre test requirement and a reasonable 4-8 week preparation window. India has a 15-day quarantine but no titre test and a 6-10 week window. Malaysia’s RNATT adds roughly 3-4 months to the preparation timeline.
For owners with a fixed relocation date, the key action is to start the process as early as possible and get the blood drawn the moment the vaccination course allows (30 days after vaccination). The 3-month wait from that blood draw date is non-negotiable.
DVS Schedule 1 and why Brazil is not on it
Malaysia classifies origin countries by rabies-free status and bilateral agreement into schedules. Schedule 1 countries (UK, Ireland, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Brunei, Singapore) send pets that face no quarantine on arrival, as Malaysia’s DVS considers their rabies control equivalent to its own.
Brazil is not on the Schedule 1 list. As a non-schedule country, pets from Brazil face the RNATT titre test and a minimum 7-day quarantine at a DVS facility on arrival. The quarantine can be extended based on a DVS risk assessment.
