Pet Transport from Austria to Lebanon
Lebanon does not require a titre test for EU-origin pets, and there is no quarantine for compliant arrivals at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport. The export process from Austria follows the standard EU official health certificate route, but Lebanon has …

Every item must be verified before your pet can board. We track each one against current standards.
What this route typically costs
Critical points
Lebanon requires rabies vaccination at least 30 days before entry. This is stricter than the 21-day minimum used in many other countries. Verify your pet's vaccination date before booking.
Check Austrian government travel advisories for Lebanon before booking. Beirut airport cargo operations can be affected by the local security and political situation.
Turkish Airlines temperature embargoes apply on connecting routes June to September. Confirm acceptance if travelling in summer.
Verify current requirements directly with the Ministry of Agriculture Lebanon before booking.
Approved carriers for this route
Not all airlines accept live animals. We book only with carriers that handle live animal cargo correctly.
What Lebanon requires at the border
Lebanon’s veterinary import requirements are administered by the Ministry of Agriculture. Officers inspect documentation at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport (BEY) on arrival.
The core requirements are a valid rabies vaccination administered at least 30 days before entry, an official health certificate issued within 10 days of travel, and an ISO-compliant microchip. Lebanon does not require a titre test for EU-origin pets. Note the 30-day vaccination window: it is longer than the 21-day minimum that applies in many other non-EU countries. If your pet was recently vaccinated, confirm the timing before booking.
No quarantine applies for compliant arrivals. For 1-2 personal companion animals, no import permit is required.
AGES health certificate process from Austria
Austria’s export health certificate for non-EU destinations is the EU-format official veterinary certificate. It must be signed by an AGES-registered official vet (Amtstierarzt) and endorsed by the relevant Austrian authority. Both steps must complete within 10 days of departure.
Schedule the Amtstierarzt examination within 10 days of travel. Your regular vet can handle vaccinations and microchipping, but the official health certificate must come from a registered official vet. Contact AGES (ages.at) or your local Bezirksverwaltungsbehorde for the list of authorised official vets in your district.
Cargo routing from Vienna to Beirut
Vienna Airport (VIE) is a major cargo hub with established connections to Istanbul. Turkish Airlines Cargo via IST to Beirut (BEY) is the primary option for this route. Book through an approved cargo agent and confirm pet acceptance on both the VIE-IST and IST-BEY legs.
Austrian Airlines operates from VIE but does not fly directly to Beirut. If using Austrian Airlines for the VIE-IST leg, confirm that onward cargo booking to BEY is possible before committing. Temperature embargoes on the IST connection apply June to September, and brachycephalic breed restrictions apply year-round on Turkish Airlines cargo.
