This is one of the few routes on this site where an Australian pet skips the rabies vaccine altogether. Do not let a vet or agent unfamiliar with the WOAH rabies-free rule book in an unnecessary vaccination; it isn't what BAHFSA's own conditions ask for.
The residency requirement is genuine: the certificate has to state the pet has been continuously in Australia for the 6 months before travel, or since birth. A pet that has recently moved to Australia from elsewhere may not qualify for this pathway and should confirm its status with BAHFSA before assuming the rabies-free route applies.
BAHFSA bans several breeds outright regardless of origin, including Pit Bull, Presa Canario, Cane Corso, American Bully, Staffordshire Terrier and Dogo Argentino types for dogs, and Savannah, Bengal and Chausie for cats. Check this before booking anything else.
There is no single-carrier itinerary from Australia to Nassau. Every routing involves at least one change of airline, so book the whole journey as one coordinated cargo movement rather than two separate tickets.

Ask about temperature embargoes for your travel window. Summer and winter cargo restrictions can rule out certain routes and dates entirely.
Microchip before you vaccinate. The microchip must be in place before the rabies shot for the vaccination to count, and getting this order wrong is the most common and costly mistake.
Use an official, government-authorised vet for the health certificate, not just your usual clinic. Many destinations only accept certificates signed by an approved vet.
