Cargo EVN to ARN via hub: approximately EUR 500 to EUR 1,400 depending on pet size and routing
SSFS health certificate: AMD 15,000 to AMD 50,000 (approximately EUR 35 to EUR 120)

Critical points

The 90-day wait runs from the blood draw date. Record this date precisely. Miscalculation leads to entry being refused at Stockholm.

Microchip before vaccination. A chip placed after the vaccination invalidates the vaccination and the process must restart.

No EU-approved titre test lab in Armenia. Blood must be shipped internationally. Allow time for shipping and confirm cold-chain requirements with your vet before drawing.

Summer temperature embargoes on Turkish Airlines and hub carriers may affect cargo acceptance. Plan for spring or autumn travel.

Sweden's import requirements for Armenian pets

Sweden applies EU-wide rules for pets from unlisted third countries. Armenia is unlisted, so the requirements are: ISO microchip implanted before any vaccination, rabies vaccination, FAVN titre test at an EU-approved laboratory with a result of at least 0.5 IU/ml, a 90-day wait from the blood draw date, and an SSFS-endorsed EU health certificate valid 10 days before travel.

Jordbruksverket (Swedish Board of Agriculture) is the competent authority for incoming pets. Jordbruksverket officials inspect at Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) cargo terminal.

Confirm current requirements at jordbruksverket.se before travel.

Titre test logistics from Yerevan

There is likely no EU-approved FAVN titre test laboratory in Armenia. Your vet in Yerevan draws the blood after the vaccination and at least 30 days later. The blood sample then needs shipping to an approved laboratory, typically in Georgia, Germany, or Turkey.

Using cold-chain shipping (temperature-controlled packaging, overnight or express courier) is standard practice. Your vet needs experience with this. Once the sample is sent, allow two to four weeks for laboratory processing and result return.

The 90-day wait starts from the blood draw date regardless of when results arrive. The wait and the laboratory processing time run concurrently, so there is no additional delay caused by the lab processing itself.

Cargo from Yerevan to Stockholm Arlanda

Turkish Airlines offers the most direct cargo routing: Yerevan (EVN) to Istanbul (IST) then IST to Stockholm Arlanda (ARN). Both legs are Turkish Airlines Cargo services, making it a single-carrier booking.

Finnair via Helsinki (HEL) is a useful alternative for this Scandinavia-bound route. Helsinki is a well-positioned hub for onward cargo to Stockholm. LOT via Warsaw is another option.

For very small pets, check whether Wizz Air operates a cabin-pet-eligible service from Yerevan that reaches Swedish airports. Wizz Air serves some Scandinavian destinations, and cabin travel would simplify the process considerably for qualifying small animals.

FAQ

Common questions about this route

Yes. Sweden applies EU rules for pets from unlisted countries. Armenia is EU-unlisted. A FAVN titre test with a result of at least 0.5 IU/ml at an EU-approved laboratory is required, along with a 90-day wait from the blood draw date before Sweden entry.
A minimum of 22 to 28 weeks (five to six months) from the first vet appointment to arrival in Sweden. The 90-day wait is the main constraint. Starting the microchip and vaccination process as early as possible keeps the timeline as short as it can be.
At an EU-approved laboratory. There is likely no approved laboratory in Armenia. Your vet draws the blood in Yerevan and ships it to an approved lab in Georgia, Germany, Turkey, or elsewhere. Confirm the lab accepts international samples before drawing.
Turkish Airlines via Istanbul (IST) is the most practical single-carrier option. Yerevan to IST to Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) is a well-established routing. Finnair via Helsinki and LOT via Warsaw are alternatives.
No quarantine for compliant arrivals. Jordbruksverket officials conduct documentary and physical inspections at Stockholm Arlanda cargo terminal. Pets with valid SSFS-endorsed EU health certificates and complete documentation are released without detention.
