Microchip
Required for all dogs, implanted before the rabies vaccination. Cats have no federal microchip requirement.
Rabies vaccination
Required for dogs. Angola's foreign-issued vaccination must be certified on the CDC's Certification of Foreign Rabies Vaccination and Microchip form, government-endorsed in Angola.
Rabies titre test
Required OR 28-day facility quarantine. Angola is on the CDC's high-risk countries for dog rabies list (source: CDC, High-Risk Countries for Dog Rabies, page last updated 15 April 2026, checked 17 July 2026). Dogs need a valid rabies serology titre from a CDC-approved lab, drawn at least 30 days after vaccination and at least 28 days before US entry, or they go straight to the facility route on arrival.
Quarantine
28-day stay at a CDC-registered animal care facility if no valid titre test is on file. The owner pays every cost of the stay, and the flight must land at an airport where a registered facility actually exists.
Import permit
No formal import permit. The CDC Dog Import Form, completed online before travel, is the registration step instead.
Health certificate
