Frequently Asked Questions
Air India Express does not currently accept pets in the passenger cabin. The airline is a low-cost subsidiary of Air India focused on short-haul routes between India and the Middle East, South East Asia, and other regional destinations. Cabin pet policies are not listed as a standard service.
Air India Express does not offer a prominently advertised live animal cargo service. The parent airline, Air India, has a more developed pet cargo programme for international routes. If you need to transport a pet from India on an international route, Air India (the full-service parent) is typically the better choice, or you can route via another carrier from a major Indian hub.
Air India (not Express) accepts pets as checked baggage and cargo on many international routes. Lufthansa, British Airways, Singapore Airlines, and Emirates also operate cargo services from major Indian airports including Mumbai (BOM), Delhi (DEL), Bangalore (BLR), and Chennai (MAA). Contact the cargo divisions of these airlines for pet acceptance on your specific route.
