Singapore to UK Pet Transport: APHA Requirements and the Titre Test Timeline
Singapore’s large expat population means many pets make the journey from Singapore back to the UK or onwards to Australia, New Zealand, or Europe. The UK leg has specific requirements that require advance planning.
UK entry requirements for pets from Singapore
Singapore is classified as a non-EU listed third country by APHA for UK pet travel purposes. This means:
- ISO 15-digit microchip
- Rabies vaccination series (primary + current booster)
- Rabies titre test blood drawn at least 30 days after the most recent rabies vaccination
- Titre test result must show 0.5 IU/mL or above from a UK-approved lab
- UK travel must not begin until at least 3 months after the date of the satisfactory titre test (APHA 3-month wait)
- Animal Health Certificate (AHC) issued by a Singapore government-authorised veterinarian within 10 days of UK arrival
- Dogs only: tapeworm treatment (Praziquantel) by a vet between 1 and 5 days before arriving in Great Britain
Timeline
If your pet currently has no titre test result on record:
- Check your pet’s microchip and vaccination status with a Singapore vet
- Get a titre test blood draw (at least 30 days after last rabies vaccination)
- Send to an approved lab – results typically take 2-3 weeks
- If result is satisfactory: the 3-month stand-down begins from the date of the blood draw
- Can travel to the UK after the 3-month period expires
For a pet that is already vaccinated and has a recent titre test in range: you may be able to travel much sooner – check the dates carefully.
Connecting through EU countries
Some pets travelling from Singapore to the UK route through EU countries (Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Paris). If your pet transits through an EU airport as cargo, the transit documentation requirements vary by airline and cargo handler. Discuss this with your transport agent.
