Frequently Asked Questions
China Eastern Airlines does not currently permit pets in the passenger cabin on most international routes. Pets travel as checked cargo in the hold. Policies can vary by route and are subject to change - confirm directly with China Eastern before booking.
China Eastern restricts brachycephalic (flat-faced) dog and cat breeds from cargo travel, including Bulldogs, Pugs, French Bulldogs, Persian cats, and others. The full restricted breeds list should be confirmed with China Eastern at time of booking.
Pets travelling on China Eastern require a government-endorsed health certificate from the origin country, current vaccinations (including rabies), ISO-compliant microchip, and any import documentation required by the destination country. For arrivals into China, a GACC-format health certificate and quarantine booking are required.
Contact China Eastern’s cargo division or call the airline’s passenger service line to arrange live animal transport. Confirm availability on your specific route well in advance - not all China Eastern routes accept live animal cargo.
